Shabby-Chic Stool Thrift Store Makeover

I had been looking everywhere for the perfect stool to have one hand. Either stores were charging outrageous prices, or I just plain couldn’t find any! However, I was lucky enough to come across this little guy at a thrift store a while back for only $5!

Love the style, not the finish. One of my favorite colors is a watery, bluish greenish gray for furniture. I really like doing a light color as well. It allows the color to act more as a neutral rather than an accent. So I got to work painting! (ps – little paint samples from Lowe’s and Home Depot are the perfect size for projects like this!)

To make it shabby, simple use some sandpaper around the edges. Just don’t go distressing happy like I did originally:

Too much shabby, not enough chic.

Perfection!

If you do use a little too much sandpaper, just repaint and start again! This is a really fast and fun DIY you can do for less than $10.
